Oregon Grape (Berberis nervosa)

There are two varieties of Oregon Grape, the High and Low Oregon Grape. This is the Low Oregon Grape in it Autumn folige, showing the bright blue berries and red leaves. Oregon Grape is a medicinal plant. Herbalists take the bright yellow roots, grind them up and soaked them in 100 proof alcohol to make a tincture for digestion problems. Photo by Richard W. Wright.
